Temperature effects on common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca L.) seed germination
Abstract
Ispitivan je uticaj različitih temperatura (20˚C, 25˚C, 30˚C i 35˚C) na procenat i stopu klijanja i dužinu i masu klijanaca ciganskog perja (Asclepias syriaca L.). Svakodnevno, u periodu od deset dana, rađeno je prebrojavanje proklijalih semena, a poslednjeg dana su izmerene dužine i mase klijanaca. Temperatura je značajno uticala na procenat klijanja, dužinu klijanaca i stopu,klijanja, dok je na masu klijanaca zabeležen manji uticaj. Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju da je optimalna temperatura za klijanje semena A. syriaca bila 30˚C (55,0%), dok se pri ostalim temperaturama procenat klijanja kretao od 16,25 do 31,25%.
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of different temperatures (20˚C, 25˚C, 30˚C and 35˚C) on the germination, germination rate, lenght and weight of seedlings of common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca L.). Germinated seeds were counted daily during ten days and the length and weight of seedlings were measured on the last day. The results indicate that differences in the germination, germination rate and lenght of seedlings of A. syriaca seeds were very prominent between temperatures. The effect of temperature on the weight of seedlings of A. syriaca were lower. The results indicate that the optimum temperature for germination of A. syriaca was 30˚C (55.0%), and at the other temperatures germination ranged from 16.25 to 31.25%.
